Uttarakhand: Doon Medical College 2nd batch to begin after MCI nod

Dehradun: Government Doon Medical College Hospital has been given a go ahead for its second MBBS batch comprising of 150 students by the Medical Council of India (MCI) for the academic session this year. The approval nod comes after three inspections in four months. The present strength of the college stands at 150.


A 23 % faculty deficit was discovered by the inspecting team last week. However, despite the shortcoming, the MCI decided to give its assent for the starting of its second batch. This was done keeping in mind the progress made by the college and the patient workload at the hospital.


“We are trying to make progress every year so that Doon medical college becomes one of the best medical institutions in Uttarakhand. MCI has decided to give a go-ahead to the second batch based on our overall performance at the hospital and medical college,” Dr Pradeep Bharti Gupta, Principal, GDMC told TOI.


The concept of Government Doon Medical College Dehradun became a reality in 2016 with the college providing 0Graduate and Post Graduate education to the meritorious students of Uttrakhand across multifarious fields of medicine.

The college is affiliated to the prestigious Hemwati Nandan Bahugauna Medical University Dehradun. The hospital affiliated to Doon Medical College is Doon Hospital
