Kochi: With regards to admissions to the medical and dental colleges in the state, the Admission Supervisory Committee is taking on a stern posture and alerting all concerned institutions, that if found erring, they would be taken extreme action against. The ASC has asked medical colleges to go public on all data related to admission.

The ASC has reiterated that transparency in MBBS/BDS admissions ought to be maintained and if the colleges are found doing otherwise, they will have to face serious consequences.

In an order issued by the committee, it makes explicitly clear that that medical colleges are not to reject online applications of aspirants seeking admission for the year 2016-17, without giving the applicants an opportunity to correct their mistakes, if any, in the submitted data. The committee made it amply clear that if rejections of such nature were found, the candidature of the selected lower rank aspirants would not be approved either.

The committee commenting on Management/NRI admissions in Medical/Dental colleges said that these admissions were to be maintained through the inter se merit of the applicants from the NEET rank lists only.

"Any violation of the directions of the ASC as well as the Court of Law will make the ASC to initiate action against the erring Medical/Dental Colleges," the ASC observed.

It is understood that many self financing medical colleges have still to publish the complete online application lists, rectification lists, the complete list of eligible/rejected candidates with details and final rank list.

The Committee clarified that vacancy fill ups would be done as per the inter se merit, and not through spot admissions outside of the waiting list. The private medical colleges were also directed to publish the waiting lists.
