Two Karnataka Medical College given permission to increase MBBS seats from 2019

NEET aspirants for the year 2019 are going to benefit from this new seat hike for the year 2019-20.

Bengaluru: A 200 MBBS seat addition has been made in the Mysuru Medical College and Research Institute and the Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences, Bellary according to a recent media. The two institutions enjoyed a 150 seat strength each till now. The increased strength will be applicable for the year 2019-20


NEET aspirants for the year 2019 are going to benefit from this new seat hike for the year 2019-20. This year, spanned a total of 5,920 in 48 colleges. The number is 770 less from the last academic year reports the Hindu.


The medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that a whopping 82 Medical colleges had been denied the permission of renewal for MBBS seats for the coming 2018-19 academic year by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. With no renewal permission, the said medical colleges will not be able to offer MBBS courses for the coming academic session.


Some medical colleges that have been denied renewal were recent setups, while there were many which have been running for years and now won’t be able to take admissions. Karnataka had 9 existing medical colleges being denied renewal for MBBS seats, losing to upto 1450 MBBS renewals from the state.


Of them Koppal Institute of Medical Sciences appealed to the Supreme Court, and has now got relief.
