Telangana: 3 Private, 2 Govt Medical Colleges get MCI nod for 750 MBBS seats
Hyderabad: The state government has received a major boost in relation to expanding medical education in Telangana as the Medical Council of India (MCI) has given its approval to two government and three private medical colleges for 150 MBBS seats each for the academic year 2019-20.
The MCI gave its nod to the two government medical colleges based at Nalgonda and Suryapet, sanctioned by the health department to start its first batch of the MBBS course. This would collectively add 300 MBBS seats.
The three medical colleges in the private sector, Dr Patnam Mahender Reddy Medical College in Chevella, Mamata Medical College in Bachupally and Surabhi Medical College in Siddipet received the MCI approval to start the MBBS course from the upcoming academic year which would collectively add 450 MBBS seats.
The apex medical council had inspected these medical colleges to find that they have met all the required norms for the approval to begin the MBBS course.
The Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that the Telangana government had sanctioned two new medical colleges in Nalgonda and Suryapet. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had signed on the file to this effect in response to proposals from the Medical and Health Department.

Now, with the new approvals from the MCI, the state would have 4,600 MBBS seats in 10 government and 22 private medical colleges. Of these 1,550 seats would in government colleges and 3,050 in private ones, reports the . TOI
Officials of the State Health Department informed the Hindu that the hostel facilities would be made available to the campus. The work would be completed by the end of June and the course is scheduled to commence in August.
