Tech Mahindra Foundation Launches Smart Academy for Healthcare
New Delhi : Tech Mahindra Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Tech Mahindra, has launched a smart academy for healthcare in Delhi, the Foundation said on Wednesday.
"We want to equip youth from low-income families with skills that will help them begin a career in healthcare. There is a huge gap between demand and supply in the field of allied healthcare not just in Delhi but the entire country," said foundations chief executive officer Loveleen Kacker.
At full capacity, the academy will train 2,000 young boys and girls.
The academic environment at the smart academy is augmented by IT lab, technical laboratories, library and also an ambulance where the students can gain realistic training on managing emergencies, the foundation said.
In coming days, the foundation intends to seek recognition from the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and affiliation from the Health Sector Skill Council (HSSC).
Four courses would be offered in 2016-17. Two courses home health aide and general duty assistant will be of six months' duration while the remaining two courses operating theatre technician and emergency medical technician are of one-year duration.
