Tanda Medical College set for expansion; to open Mother, Child Care Hospital by 2021

Kangra: The renowned Dr Rajinder Prasad Govt Medical College at Tanda popularly known as Tanda Medical College is set to expand its service sector as the authorities of the institute, have now decided to set up a Mother and Child Care Hospital.

The medical college has recently created a record of sorts by conducting 9788 institutional deliveries, highest in the state. Inspired by the same and to ease the pressure of the concerned Gynae department, the authorities decided to establish the hospital, which will start functioning in 2021.

Speaking to UNI, the Principal of Tanda Medical College, Dr Bhanu Awasthi stated that to ease the heavy pressure on the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, work has started on the ambitious project, for which the Central government has provided a grant of Rs 39.64 crore.

He said the Obstetrics and Gynecology department has already conducted total 7975 institutional deliveries by November this year, which is again a record.

In June this year, Tanda Medical College was ranked among the top medical colleges of the country as per a survey conducted by India Today on seven parameters including infrastructure, academic excellence and governance.
