Tamil Nadu:CCIM Inspection at Govt Ayurveda Medical College

Tamil Nadu: On Wednesay this week, the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) began its inspection of the Government Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital in Nagercoli. The College had Established in the Year 2009.


A three member team was constituted for the 2-day inspection at Government Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital (AMCH). The team was headed by Surendar Patel from Bhopal, and comprised Bagyasri Khot and Santhosh Govinda Rao, both from Podar Government Ayurveda Medical College, Mumbai.


According to the sources, the State-level counselling for admission to the course would be held soon. The Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) checked out the infrastructure facilities the college and the strength of Patients reported at the Government Ayurveda college and Hospital. At present it has a 100-bed hospital which has an average daily occupancy of 60.


The Inspection team was reported to have held its discussions with teaching and non-teaching staff. The college has 30 teacher at present against the requirement of 31. besides this, the college has a mini Pharmacy, where the hospital produces the Ayurvedic Medicines .


Speaking with Hindu, Principal J. Clarence Davy said, “We hope the CCIM team will be satisfied with the available infrastructure and allow us to start admissions in time for the current academic year."


After all its Inspection Procedure, the team will submit its reports to the Department of AYUSH under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, which will decide on allowing the college to admit the sixth batch of 60 students in Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) in the current academic year.
