Stipend Given to AYUSH Interns much less than that of MBBS interns: Minister informs Lok Sabha

New Delhi: The stipend given to AYUSH doctors during the internship is much less to the stipend given to MBBS doctor, according to the recent information provided by the Minister of AYUSH, Shripad Yesso Naik to the parliament

As per the information given in Lok Sabha, the stipend paid to MBBS doctors (Interns) in Central Government Institution/Hospitals is Rs. 17900/- per month whereas the stipend paid to interns in National Institutes under the Ministry of AYUSH is Rs. 12,684/-

The stipend to MBBS Interns has been with effect from the year 2015, while that of AYUSH interns has been with effect from 2011.

Shockingly, the Minister responding to the question as to what steps the Government has taken to give stipend to AYUSH doctors at par with MBBS doctors during the internship informed that "No such proposal is presently under consideration in the Ministry of AYUSH"

The Minister was responding to questions raised by Ministers Raosaheb Danve Patil, Ganesh Singh, Kapil Moreshwar Patil

AYUSH UG courses taught in India include BAMS (Bachelor in Ayurvedic Medical Science), BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery), BUMS (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery), BSMS (Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery), BNYS (Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Science).
