Tamil Nadu: Foundation of Dindigul Government medical college laid
Dindigul: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami recently laid the foundation stone for a new government medical college in this district.
Addressing the function arranged in this connection, Mr.Palaniswami said the college will be constructed at a cost of Rs 327 crore in 8.61 acres of land.
The new medical college would be ready by the next academic year (2021-22) and 150 students would be admitted.
The buildings would, in all probability, become functional in the next 12 to 15 months and special officers have been appointed to oversee the works that are being carried out.
The government had allotted Rs 100 crore for the construction works, the Chief Minister said.
Mr Palaniswami said 85 per cent seats in government medical colleges in Tamil Nadu were allotted to students from the state, besides the students from the state also make it to the 15 per cent seats allotted for the All India quota.

He distributed various welfare measures worth Rs 63.54 crore to 25,213 beneficiaries and also laid foundation for various development projects in the district at a cost of Rs 340.86 crore.
