New Medical College to come up in Nagaland; announces state health minister

Kohima: Nagaland to get the second Medical College in Mon town, which was disclosed by Minister for Health & Family Welfare S. Pangnyu Phom today, who held a coordination meeting with the civil societies and Government officials in the Deputy Commissioner's conference hall in Mon.

Official sources said that Pangnyu stated that, the new Medical College in Mon will be of huge benefit for the Eastern Nagas in particular and the State in general.

In regard to the site selection, he requested the landowners to cooperate with the Health Department to find suitable land for the Medical College free from any issues. He also appealed to civil societies and churches to work together with the Government for successful completion of the project.

Pangnyu informed that Nagaland health project is under World Bank which is also taking up many projects and programmes. He further mentioned that Government Departments and civil societies should sit together from time to time to solve issues when it arises.

The Minister was accompanied by Adviser of Fire & Emergency, Services, SIRD, Relief & Rehabilitation, Pohwang Konyak, MLA Eshak Konyak and MLA Thongwang Konyak besides officials from the concerned Department, sources added.

It may be mentioned that the first Medical College of Nagaland is being construction near Kohima with the assistance of the Central Government.
