Special OT camps in Agartala Medical College

Agartala: As part of improving the efficiency of the health infrastructure, Tripura government has decided to hold special surgery camps in Agartala Government Medical College campus for the first time ever in the history of Tripura.


Health Minister Sudip Roybarman said here today that the department would arrange special camps for surgeries in four disciplines on second Saturday of every month to clear the backlog, which increased the sufferings of the patients and compelled them to leave the state for simple surgeries.


Altogether, nine Operation Theatres (OTs) will be functioning on every second Saturday, including four for general surgery, two each for Orthopedics and Gynecology, and one for ENT. The full team of doctors, surgeons and nurses of respective departments will attend the camp.


A large backlog was created for more than three months.


Roy Barman said the department was also introducing e-hospital facilities in GBP Hospital and is expected to function from the third week of May. A good number of doctors and nurses are undergoing training for providing e-hospital facilities to the patients in the state hospital.


As part of improvement of the hospital service, the government has installed CCTV cameras, the minister added.
