Rs 47.03 Crore budget for Tanda medical college approved

Kangra: The Governing Council of Rogi Kalayan Samiti of Dr R P Government Medical College Tanda on Friday approved the budget of Rs 47.03 crore for the current financial year besides Rs 1 crore was earmarked for the maintenance of the college and hospital. Health Minister Vipin Singh Parmar, who chaired the RKS meeting, said this while addressing media persons at Tanda said the RKS had an income of Rs 33.92 crore for the year 2017- 18 and the expenditure was Rs 24.40 crore. For the current financial year, income is expected to be 37.00 crore and the expenditure is expected to be Rs 47.03 crore for which approval was granted.

In the interest of patients there was no hike in the user charges in the current budget. The Health Minister said Rs 5 crore were earmarked for free medicines and Rs 4.50 crore for free testing of the patients. The RKS decided to have free treatment for the patients of cancer, TB, AIDS, Hemophilia, Thalassemia, Acid attack and other critical patients.

The Minister said work on the Saria for the attendants of the patients will start soon for which Shanta Kumar and Viplov Thakur MPs had contributed earlier. Employees appointed by RKS will get hike in salary and will be regularized.

He said Rs 85 lakh will be spent of the maintenance of the beds and bedsheets besides the repairs of wheel chairs and trolleys. The Health Minister said Rs 10 lakh will be spent for benches and canopy for the attendants of the patients. It was decided to open 5 shops including a medical shop in the college premises.

The Health Minister said more registration counters will be opened in the OPD. All the vacant posts of theatre assistants, Radiographers and ministerial staff will filled. Super speciality departments of Nephrology, Cardiology and Cardio Vascular Surgery departments will start working soon.

It was decided not to allow attendants in to hospital till 1200 hrs and no one will be allowed to sit in the corridors and to have food there. Financial help will be given to the needy patients on the recommendations of the elected representatives or Panchayat pradhans.

The RKS meeting was attended among others by MLA Nagrota Bagwan Arun Kumar Mehra, Principal Dr. Bhanu Awasthi and Medical Superintendent Dr Gurdharshan Gupta.
