Gujarat: Conspired by one of its own professor, a fake admission racket has recently been busted at Jhansi Medical College. The Rajkot crime branch arrested Dr Sachin Mahor (HOD, Radiology) after his name was mentioned as a key conspirator during initial interrogation of his aides by the crime branch.

Dr Mahor's two accompaniments were Brijesh Tiwari, a resident of Noida and Rajneesh Tiwari of Gaziabad. Rajneesh operated from Vadodara city for Mahor. They are now reported to be in Rajkot police custody.

The trio has managed to crash the dreams of at least eight students, who have been allegedly duped of lakhs of rupees in this whole admission scam. The students are from Rajkot, Vadodara, Ankleshwar and Anand.

A media report on the case confirms that each student ended up paying anything between Rs 14-27 lakh, in lieu of an assured admission in Jhansi Medical College. Only after reaching the college premise did they realize that they have been duped after paying a huge sum of money. After which they filed a cheating case.

The accused also used to run a firm Swaminarayan Educational Guideline in Vadodara. Under the disguise of an office, they promised secured admissions to students in the said college.

Their modus operandi was simple. Students were sent to Jhansi, where Mohar used to to negotiate the amount on the pretext of promising an admission. Each student paid a different amount for their medical sear. Mahor heads the radiology department in Jahnsi Medical College.

"The students were issued a fake admission letter, only to find the truth after they reached the medical college,” implied investigating officer in the case K J Dhaduk of Rajkot crime branch. One accused is reported to be absconding in the case.

Dhaduk also told TOI that three students in Vadodara has paid a total sum of Rs 57 lakh for their admission.
