Punjab: MCI assures renewal of 100 MBBS seats at GMCH Chandigarh

Chandigarh: MCI has come forward to assure the Chandigarh administration, and therefore, many medical aspirants by promising to recommend renewal of 100 MBBS seats at GMCH 32 to the health ministry.


UT Health Secretary Anurag Agarwal in a recent meeting with the council implied that an undertaking has been on behalf of the state government to address that all the concerns raised by MCI will be appropriately addressed. In return for their promise, we will now ensure that it happens.


The matter is regarding the renewal of 100 MBBS seats at the college. The renewal is for the fourth batch of MBBS students. However, MCI noted several deficiencies during its inspection.


Express reported that after the MCI team’s first visit, and the subsequent report which was submitted to the Institute, another team of MCI visited the Institute this year in February.


Chandigarh MP Kirron Kher had also written a letter to Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare J P Nadda requesting him to sanction 100 MBBS seats for the institute.
