Punjab: Adesh Medical College gets MCI approval for 150 MBBS seats

Ambala: The Medical Council of India (MCI) has recently given its nod Adesh Medical College and Hospital, Mohri for 150 MBBS seats for the academic year 2019-20. The Medical College authorities got the information of approval through a letter on May 3, 2019, by Board of Governors in Supersession of MCI (MCI BoG).

According to a recent media report, the MCI inspection team visited the medical college and conducted physical verification of the available infrastructure, teaching faculty, resident doctors and staff at the institute. The team also inspected the facilities available in the associated teaching
hospital
to check if it fulfills the stipulated norms.

Informing about the MCI's nod, the Chairman of Adesh Welfare Society, Dr Harinder Singh Gil informed the TOI, "Our institutions are serving to the need of higher education in the field of medical and dental sciences, nursing, pharmaceutical, paramedical, physiotherapy, engineering, management as well as proving healthcare facilities at an affordable cost to the needy residents of the region. The institutions are playing a major role in employment generation directly and indirectly as well as uplifting the society through higher education and healthcare."

MCI approval is expected to help aspiring medical students in the region.

The Medical College is a multispecialty care hospital running under the aegis of Adesh Welfare Society. The advanced teaching hospital has got a capacity of 300 beds at present projected to be of 650 beds and is a multi-specialty hospital in a true sense. It provides some super-specialty treatment facilities with modern ICU, ICCU, RICU, NEURO ICU, SICU, Neonate Nursery, Dialysis Units, world-class Operations Theatres, MRI, CT Scan, Mammography, etc.

The ICU complex consists of medical Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU), Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU), Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and a Renal dialysis unit.
