Private Wards to Soon begin operations at AIIMS Bhopal

Bhopal: Treatment at AIIMS Bhopal is soon going to become more comfortable with the institute inaugurating private wards here on Saturday. Dr Nitin Nagarkar, AIIMS Bhopal director (in charge) revealed that the wards would be thrown open to the public in the coming weeks.


The private rooms consisting of around 20 deluxe and another 30 Class 'B' rooms have been handed over to the hospital administration. However those looking out for private care will have to spend an extra buck on it.


Deluxe and B class rooms costs between Rs 3,000 and Rs 5,000 per day at AIIMS, New Delhi. A similar room rate policy is expected at AIIMS, Bhopal. As per protocol, four high-security VVIP rooms have also been sanctioned.


"The rooms are ready. We are awaiting recruitment of additional staff to roll out quality care. Public can avail the facility in the coming weeks," said Dr Nagarkar.


Dr Nagakar during his visit to AIIMS, Bhopal, met senior and junior resident doctors who are demanding adequate security after recent intimidation by relatives of a patient.


"I have been updated about the situation. We have scheduled a high-level meeting. Security measures at the hospital and on the AIIMS campus would be reviewed and further beefed up," he told the TOI.


Sources reveald that AIIMS Bhopal is likely to investigate the possibility of fungal inhibitory in saline solution used at the hospital. Meanwhile denial of any sort of infection existing has been issued by hospital officials


Concerns have been expressed about storage space for indicate medication, of late. A review of best practices is likely to take place, considering the implications of any such possibility.


It is believed that two children have died in the paediatrics ward. The ward has been raised with a substantial funding of Rs. 27 lakh by the Madhya Pradesh Government.


MP Health department is expected to continue funding paediatric and SNCU unit of the premier hospital. The review of policy for sharing medication like narcotics injection for pain relief , between departments is also likely to take place.


A recent fire destroyed substantial stock of drugs at the affordable medicines and reliable implants for treatment pharmacy (AMRIT). It is believed unused cartons caught fire, but preparedness of the AIIMS staffers, averted a major disaster.


A gardening project to beautify AIIMS is in the pipeline to beautify the exteriors of the institute. Earlier in 2014 administration official had announced the plantation of more than 10,000 saplings on the campus spread around 67 acres.


A Union government directive had called for reusing treated used water for gardening and landscaping among others. Water treatment process is expected to be installed.


The estate development tender for gardening has been temporarily suspended as the institute is looking forward to the installation of a state-of-the-art water treatment facility. Pollution and risk of contamination would be minimized with infrastructure development reveal sources.


Concerns have been expressed over used water being thrown into the sewer leading to Hoshangabad Road.
