Odisha: CM lays foundation stone for new Rs 300 crore medical college

Keonjhar: A foundation stone for a Rs. 300 crore Medical College was laid by Chief minister Naveen Patnaik at Kabitra, four kms from the district headquarters town of Keonjhar, on Wednesday. Mr. Patnaik also announced a series of measures for self help groups revealing that SHGs could take a loan of three lac at a 1% interest rate. Collector N Thirumala Naik gave the welcome address.


Finance and Health Minister, Pradeep Kumar Amat who also spoke on the occasion said, the Centre has not taken any interest in the coal royalty, and at least 23 projects have been withdrawn; with the rural populist programmes like BRGF being stopped altogether.


“Odisha is in March towards progress with the blessings of its people”, Amat added


The others who spoke on the occasion included:. Rural Development Minister Badrinarayan Patra, Keonjhar, District Planning Board, Chairperson and Patana MLA Hrushikesh Nayak, Telkoi MLA Bedabyasa Naik, Sadar MLA Abhiram Naik,& MP Shakuntala Laguri.


30 senior BJP leaders earlier in the day, including former BJP MLA Mohan Charan Majhi, District BJP Yuva Morcha President, Hema Ranjan Barik and District President Radhakanta Mahanta, were taken into preventive custody. A BJP activist also threw an egg at Finance Minister’s passing vehicle; fortunately Mr. Amat was not travelling in it.
