No Separate University for AYUSH courses: AYUSH Minister
New Delhi: There is no proposal to set up a separate university for AYUSH in order to promote various disciplines under AYUSH. The information to this effect was recently given by the AYUSH minister to the Parliament that the Government has not yet received any proposals for setting up any separate university for AYUSH courses.
MP. Shri Ramdas C. Tadas and Shri Chandra Prakash Joshi questioned the Ministry of AYUSH that "whether the Government has any proposal to set up a separate university for AYUSH in order to promote various disciplines under AYUSH and if so, the details thereof".
He further questioned the number of colleges set up under this scheme so far, State/UT-wise particularly questions about the states of Maharashtra and Rajasthan
Responding to the highlighted question the Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, the Ayush Minister through a written reply stated that "The Government has not received any proposal to set up a separate university for AYUSH in order to promote various disciplines under AYUSH.
He further mentioned that "the State Governments of Maharashtra and Rajasthan has not sent any proposal to the Government for setting up of AYUSH universities".
The MP'S also questioned that "whether the Government is likely to help in discontinuing old practices and beliefs which are still present in the system and if so, the details thereof?" to which the minister of state replied that "All AYUSH education institutes are imparting education according to the Indian Medicine Central Council (Minimum standards of education in Indian Medicine) amendment regulations and Homeopathic (Degree course) Regulations".
Medical earlier reported on the 40 new proposals for opening AYUSH colleges are under process with the government, Shri Shripad Yesso Naik informed the Parliament, adding that 155 AYUSH colleges including 2 National Institutions have been opened in the country in the past three years.
The reply showed that a total of 155 colleges opened in last 3 years with 105 in Ayurveda, 39 in Homeopathy, 9 in Unani and 2 in Sidha. Uttar Pradesh topped the list in opening of 43 new AYUSH colleges, followed by Gujrat with 32 new colleges. The state of Karnataka added 18 AYUSH colleges in the past three years, while states of Maharastra, MP, and Punjab added 16,9, and 5 new colleges
