Chandigarh:The Punjab and Haryana High Court has received a petition from the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) stating that neither is university counselling underway nor has any date been fixed for admissions to medical courses in Punjab.

Earlier a petition from Ravneet Kaur and others had challenged the 2016 Pre medical Entrance Test( PMET), seeking a stay on counselling.

Anupam Gupta, University Counsel while submitting before the bench of Justice GS Sandhawalia stated that there was no question of holding counselling when BFUHS was only seeking preferences from applicants so far.

A public notice had been issued by the university seeking applicant preference for choice of college and category between July 6 and 11. It is this notice that has been challenged by petitioners on the basis of wanting the June 10 PMET to be re conducted. The argument presented being that the result is based on percentile score against examination rules.

The next hearing has been fixed for July 25.
