Rs 1.2 crore MBBS fee for management and NRI seats at this UP Private Medical College

UP: Lucknow’s Era Medical College seems to have passed all previous private medical college records by announcing an exorbitant Rs 1.2 crore for each of its MBBS seats falling under the management and NRI quota for the 2018-19 academic session.


The fee structure of the college widely publicized on the social media has led to an enraged audience blaming the government for carrying out an unabashed sale of medical seats in a country facing acute medical doctor shortage.


TNIE reports that the college has fixed the Ist year fee at Rs 30 lakh, the highest figure on record and the 5th year fee fixed on the least expensive scale of Rs.15 lakh. The five-year costs summing up to become Rs 1,20,97,000. The hostel fee in this total amounts to Rs 4 lakh per year, or a little more than Rs 33,000 a month.


“NEET is now mandatory for admission to medical colleges, so only those who clear the cut-off mark get in,” said a senior official.


The unabashedly fixed high fee on the by the college with the approval of the MCI in 2006 had elicited many angry reactions. President, Resident Doctors’ Association, AIIMS, Delhi, Harjit Singh Bhatti tweeted


 


Former Union Health and Family Welfare, Secretary, K Sujatha Rao tweeted saying that fee was a very serious issue .“The implications are not good for India. We cannot afford medical education to be for the rich only.”
