New Delhi: Hindu Rao medical college to start MD, MS Courses
New Delhi: North Delhi Municipal Corporation Medical College and Hindu Rao hospital ( popularly called Hindu Rao Medical College) will soon begin its journey in offering PG medical courses with an introduction to MD(Masters in Medicine)/ MS (Masters in Surgery) courses in Community Medicine and Pathology from the academic year 2020-21.
This comes in line of the fact, that MCI rule mandates all medical colleges offering MBBS courses to begin offering MD,MS courses within three years. North MCD Medical College, with an affiliation to the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University has been offering MBBS courses since 2013

Recently, a proposal to this effect was presented at the north corporation Standing Committee. In-principal permission has been obtained from the commissioner to start the PG medical courses and a letter of approval for affiliation, after due inspections, has already been collected from the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU).
The one-time expenditure for the commencement of the PG medical courses is reportedly Rs 34 lakh towards the making of fixed assets like faculty rooms, furniture and library and others. Besides, an additional recurring expense of Rs 1 crore yearly towards the salaries of the professors, reports HT. The medical college will start by providing MD (Pathology) and MD (Community Medicine)
The recent proposal by the college to start MD/MS courses comes following the Medical Council of India (MCI) notification of 2018, it is necessary upon medical colleges to start PG medical education courses within three years of the grant of recognition by MCI. Failing to do this will cause the withdrawal of recognition to run even MBBS courses.
