New Delhi: AYUSH Ministry to set up New Homeopathy Institute (AIIH)

New Delhi : A Rs. 302.16 crore All India Institute of Homeopathy (AIIH) is being set up by the Ministry of Ayush at Narela. It is envisaged to be completed in 60 months, including 36 months for construction work in the project.


To be developed as a Centre of Excellence, it will focus on fundamental research, drug safety evaluation, standardisation, quality control and scientific validation of Homeopathy.


The AIIH will also conduct post-graduate and doctoral courses related to these disciplines. The PG courses will have an annual intake of 60 students.


The AIIH will also impart re-orientation training and continuing medical education to Homeopathic physicians and teachers. In order to promote the study of homeopathy at national and international level, a state–of- the-art tertiary care hospital with facilities for clinical research will also be established. The hospital will have a referral OPD and IPD and will be a 100 bedded facility . The institute will also have speciality clinics providing tertiary care as reported by Pharmabiz.


The aim of the government is to create standards for education, research and therapy at their highest level at the AIIH. The attempt is to makeAIIH s a role model for other institutions.


The Institute will undertake interdisciplinary research primarily focused on identification of best Homeopathy treatments and develop a correlation with bio-molecular western medicine.


Fundamental principles of Homeopathy are to be validated through application of modern tools and technology, appropriate to the traditional character of Homeopathy. Other objectives of the Institute include: standardisation and quality control of Homeopathy drugs and drug development and improvement in the understanding of the traditional character of Homeopathy.


This institute will also function as an international collaborative centre for global promotion and research in Homeopathy.


Once fully established, the Institute will have 10 departments, 10 speciality clinics with interdisciplinary research laboratories. 60 scholars will have access to post graduate and doctoral (MD and PhD/ DM) programmes every year through these departments.


Other objectives of the institute include bringing about valid synergy between ancient wisdom of Homeopathy and advantages of modern diagnostics, technology and management, wherever needed. The institutes will aim at optimising homeopathy for maintenance of health and prevention of disease by diet, exercise, seasonal and age related regimens.


The AIIHS is meant to promote collaborative research with various R&D institutions at national and international levels and function as an apex body for international collaboration.
