Nadda assures Scindia of a Medical College in Shivpuri
Bhopal: Lok Sabha Parliamentarian Jyotiraditya Scindia recently raised serious concerns with Union Health Minister JP Nadda about unnecessary delays in the construction of a medical college in Shivpuri. The minister, however, is reported to have assured the latter of removal of hurdles in the establishment of the college.
Mr. Nadda while replying to the Minister’s query in the Lok Sabha said it was in people’s interest that the college be constructed, at the earliest.
Mr. Scindia who raised the issue during question hour said, “If we want to build a healthy society, besides institutions like AIIMS, we should expand health services at district level too.” He reminded Mr. Nadda that the healthcare facility sanction had been given by Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad had on February 8, 2014, at an estimated cost of Rs.190 crore.
According to Mr. Scindia, the then Health minister, Azad had issued orders within three days of the request and land allotment was done immediately. Elaborating further, the Lok Sabha member informed that an MOU was signed in August 2015 regarding the same.However, the construction of the building continues to remained incomplete, he pointed out. He further pointed out that many medical colleges though, given approval after Shivpuri , had commenced their operations .
Expressing gratitude to the Nadda , for not having shifted the college venue, elsewhere, from Shiv puri, Scindia asked Mr Nadda by when the building would be ready and academic session commence. He was also keen to know the status of faculty recruitment and the Medical Council of India (MCI) approval for commencement of the medical college's 1st academic term in Shivpuri.
Mr. Scindia also requested Mr. Nadda to institute a high level probe into the cause of delay of construction of the building.
