Minor fire breaks out NRS Medical College and Hospital

Kolkata: A minor fire broke out at state government-run Nil Ratan Sarkar (NRS) Medical College and Hospital this morning in Sealdah area, triggering panic among patients and their family members.


According to police, the fire was first noticed at around 1000 hours at Pediatric Ward which is located on the fifth floor of hospital's Centenary Building. Altogether three fire tenders, local police and Disaster Management Group (DMG) personnel rushed to the scene and firemen fought for nearly an hour to douse the blaze.


However, no casualty was reported in the incident, a police official said."We have started an investigation to know the exact reason of the fire. But after primary investigation we are suspecting that the fire might have been caused by a short-circuit in a switch board," a senior fire brigade official said.
