Medical Admission Fraud: MBBS, BAMS Aspirants duped of Rs 40 lakh
Nagpur: The fraudsters roaming around in the city allegedly duped Rs 40 lakh collectively from one MBBS and one BAMS aspirants under the pretext of providing seats at renowned medical institutions.
In the first case, a man was duped of Rs 36 lakh by a group of four tricksters who bluffed him of providing an MBBS seat for his son at Indira Gandhi Medical College aka Mayo Hospital.
The four miscreants approached the man with a fake promise of getting his son's admission in Mayo Hospital despite having a low rank in NEET 2018. The father agreed to pay the money to them.
To gain his trust, the fraudsters arranged a meeting where they informed him about the crucial details regarding their contacts in the hospital and how they will carry out the entire process. They took him on around to Mayo hospital with all documents required for the admission process to gain the assurance.

The accused duped the amount of 36 lakh between 13th August 2018 and 25th April 2019 and sent verification messages on WhatsApp, reports the Nagpur Today.
However, when the admission was not confirmed by the Medical College, the MBBS aspirant's father approached Gittikhadan police station where the miscreants were booked under section 420,465,468,471 of the Indian Penal Code.
In another case, a 36-year-old trickster approached a BAMS aspirant with a promise to get her a seat in Dr Rajendra Gode Ayurvedic Hospital in Amravati for which he demanded Rs 15 lakh, reports TOI.
However, after extracting Rs 4 lakh in advance from the student, when the miscreant could not get her the seat. Realising that they had been duped, they approached the Mankapur police and a complaint was lodged.
The accused was booked under Sections 406, 402 of Indian Penal Code.
