Despite conflicting statements of NC Medical College, Panipat in relation to the paucity of faculty, resident doctors, OPD attendance and bed occupancy, reported by the MCI, the Supreme Court in its directive has ordered surprise visits to it, before December, 2017. The visits are meant to carry out checks, if the institute has proper facilities, to train students, and submit its assessment to the court reports India Legal.

The Council has been complaining of the college running short of faculty by 84.61 percent, shortage of resident doctors by 89.13 percent and OPD attendance on the day of assessment as nil, with bed occupancy being zero.

The college though has denied the MCI charges, claiming adequate faculty, residents, OPD operations and bed occupancy of 69%, along with a footfall of 650 patients on an everyday basis.

While Senior Counsel Kapil Sybil on Monday elaborated on the irregularities, Senior Counsel, Vikas submitted that the inspection committee of the apex court had visited the venue thrice, and the only thing now remaining was the renovation of the building. It was at this juncture that the bench ordered the surprise checks by the Council.

The next hearing is meant to come up on November 28, 2017, reports Indian Legal
