MCC Issues Notice for PwD Candidates for PG NEET 2019 Counseling
New Delhi: Confirming that the new guidelines for PWD candidates as has been finalised by the Medical Council of India will be followed for the counsellling session for NEET PG 2019 and NEET MDS 2019, the Medical counselling committe(MCC) recently issued a notice to this effect on its official website mcc.nic.in
the Board of Governors in Supersession of Medical Council of India has issued Guidelines regarding admission of students with "Specified Disabilities" under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 vide Gazette Notification No. MCI34(41)/2018-Med./170045 dated 5th February 2019
Now the MCC has issued a notice informing all the candidates participating in the upcoming PG Counselling 2019 for MD/ MS/ Diploma/ MDS courses that the extent of "specified disability" in a Person with Disability (PWD candidate) shall be assessed in accordance with these guidelines for the purpose of issuing Disability Certificate and at the time of admission in the college.
Further, all the PWD candidates participating in the PG Counselling 2019 are required to get themselves assessed for their disability and obtain a Disability Certificate from any one of the designated Disability Centre (List of the Disability Centres enclosed as ANNEXURE-II) to secure admission under 5% quota for candidates with benchmark disabilities in accordance with the provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 notified in the Gazette of India by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on 4th January 2018, the notice added .
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported about the MCI gazette finalising the Guidelines regarding admission of students with "Specified Disabilities" under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 with respect to admission in MBB. The minimum degree of disability should be 40% (Benchmark Disability) in order to be eligible for availing reservation for persons with specified disability.

| $ It is proposed that for admission to MBBS course the Speech Intelligibility Affected (SIA) score shall not exceed 3 (Which will correspond to less than 40%) to be eligible to pursue the MBBS course. Persons with an Aphasia Quotient (AQ) up to 40% may be eligible to pursue MBBS course but beyond that, they will neither be eligible to pursue the MBBS course nor will they have any reservation. | ||||||
