MBBS Question paper Goof Up: RGUHS blames computer software, Students demand Re Exam
Karnataka: Controversy has erupted following a goof-up in the question paper of forensic-medicine examination for second-year MBBS students conducted at Rajiv Gandhi University of health sciences (RGUHS) recently.
According to recent media accounts, the computer which was supposed to pick question paper in a randomised manner from the other set of tests accidentally selected the same question paper as was in the case of the medical students as the Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College- deemed to be university. It was found that second-year MBBS examination paper conducted on December 26 had the same 26 questions that were in the final internal assessment of the Medical College. The exam of this subject was conducted at SDU Medical College on 22 November 2019.
This has apparently come as a shock for the students as well as the concerned authorities. While the varsity blamed the computer software, there is no word about re-examination.

“Once a paper setter frames a question paper, he/she should not give the same question paper for any other exam. We take an undertaking. This has been violated by the faculty member who set the paper,” S. Sacchidanand, Vice-Chancellor, RGUHS, informed The Hindu. He also informed that the paper setter of both universities was found to be the same person. “I would write to the Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of Higher Education to initiate action against the faculty member concerned. We also want to blacklist the paper setter and ensure that no other papers of the university are set by the same member,” he further added.
However, RGUHS registrar (evaluation) Dr K B Lingegowda informed TNIE that the question paper was selected through computer software and “so it was the selection made by the computer.
A second-year student of RGUHS told the media persons that some students have referred to the question paper set by the SDU medical college to practice for the examination. Those students will have an unfair advantage therefore they want the university to conduct the examination again. Many other students also demanded the re-examination.
"It is easy to get away with such cases by claiming either ignorance or a mistake. This is a nice way to avoid getting into paper leak allegations and yet make money," another student said while accusing the university of the negligence.
RGUHS officials, however, said that they had not received any such written requests and maintained that there was no need for a re-examination.
