Nashik: From this year on, all medical colleges in the country have to register themselves and update their information on the All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) portal, as per a recent directive issued by the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry.

This information will play an important role in the ranking process, according to AISHE’s officials.

It has been directed to the medical education institutions that they would have to submit the following information in a prescribed format as posted out on the portal’s link:

  • Basic details of college

  • Availability of infrastructure

  • Financial information

  • Programmes conducted under various faculties/schools and departments/centres

  • Teachers’ details

  • Details of non-teaching staff

  • Students enrolled

  • Examination results

  • Scholarships, loans and accreditation

  • Some other administrative, departmental and academic details

Meanwhile, Maharashtra has already started complying with the said order. The Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) has asked all the affiliated colleges to register themselves and update their information.

On this, AISHE’s Nodal Officer for medical colleges in Maharashtra, Praveen Ghatekar, said that he is expecting 100% response from colleges.

“College failing to submit the detailed information will be barred from applying for the renewal of affiliation or increasing the intake capacities,” he said. From 60%-65% in 2017, over 90% of the colleges have responded positively to the directives in the ongoing session.

“More colleges are submitting their information to the AISHE for last three years. Now, the Ministry of Human Resource Department (MHRD) has made it mandatory for all colleges to submit the information from this year,” Ghatekar informed TOI. “This year all 346 colleges affiliated to the MUHS will be directed to complete the process at the earliest.”

The health university has decided to run the project to grade medical and dental colleges in the state from this academic year. The process of gradation of 346 affiliated colleges, both state and private, on the lines of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has already started on the administrative level, adds the daily.

Certain officials confirmed that the HRD Ministry will soon issue separate circular regarding the deadline.

The links are opened on the AISHE website since October 1.
