Madras High Court grants bail to Principal of SVS Medical College

The Madras High Court is reported to have granted a bail to the Chairman and also the Principal of SVS Medical College in Villupuram over a matter of three suicides belonging to the college campus.

Earlier this year these three girls committed suicide as they could not afford the over "exorbitant" fee demands by the college management.

Earlier the bail application was rejected by the court. However, in this recent development Justice K Kalyanasundaram granted bail to Vasuki Subramaniam and Kalanidhi when their bail petitions came up before him today.

As reported by MD team earlier, bodies of three female students of a private medical college were found in a well in Tamil Nadu’s Villupuram district on Saturday evening. They have reportedly blamed the college administration for their death in a suicide note, police said. They have accused the college management of charging “excess fees” of “around Rs 6 lakh” without the bill and “torture” in the two-page suicide note. They also alleged poor facilities in the institution and said there was “nothing to learn”.

Following which a fresh autopsy was ordered by HC and conducted on one of the girls on the request of her father. Her father had apparently sought a CB-CID inquiry and a fresh post-mortem in a state-run hospital in Chennai. He (Father) also requested to allow a doctor of his choice to be present during the autopsy,

Only after this procedure, it was confirmed by the state CB-CID that one of the deceased girls had not died due to drowning.

On February 11, there was a second post mortem conducting on one of the three girls. The court had given the order on an appeal by the father of Saranya against the February 9 order of a single judge, dismissing his petition, seeking a fresh autopsy on the body of his daughter
