Bhopal: The Advanced Medical College students fate hangs in a balance as the college has been violating green laws for long and does not have the mandatory environmental clearance from the PCB to run a medical college hospital. The National Green Tribunal (NCT) on Wednesday, gave a last chance to the college authorities, the Director, Medical Education and the state government to submit a reply on the state of affairs.

The state government has admitted hundreds of students in the college and any adverse step by the green tribunal is bound to affect the fate of these students. The college is also supposed to have an ETP facility, which is also absent in this case. However, the Advanced Medical College counsel has presented a Ministry of Environment and forest (MOEF), notification, dated 22nd December, 2014 to the tribunal stating educational institutions don’t need to file for environmental clearances

Madhya Pradesh State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (MPSEIAA) has been asked to file a reply on the matter on January 11.
