LG Kiran Bedi visits Puducherry Medical Colleges

Puducherry: In the endeavour to ensure compliance of industries and institutions with the spatial extent of lands to create rainwater harvest structures, Lt.Governor Kiran Bedi as part of her 182nd weekend morning round visited Manakkula Vinayagar and Venkateswara Medical Colleges on Sunday.


According to a Raj Nivas release, this is the tenth dedicated round for Ms Bedi under "Mission Puducherry Water Rich" and in these 10 rounds, 17 industries and educational institutions the Lt Governor have visited.


During today's visit it was found that the Venkateswara Medical College has put in place a comprehensive water harvesting system.The institution had also well maintained a pond within the campus and adopted energy conservation practice through solar energy generation.


The Manakkula Vinayagar Medical college was in the process of setting up water harvesting structures.


The Lt Governor later paid a surprise visit to the State Ground Water Authority and noted that it was needed to be strengthened with technological support from National Informatics Centre (NIC).
