Pune: The National Institute of Naturopathy (NIN) is setting up the state's first naturopathy hospital cum medical college in Yewalewadi, Kondhwa on a 25 acre plot of land. The 250 bed project facility in Pune has been delayed for a long time due to unavailability of land. Similar facilities have come up in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Karnataka.

Prof (Dr) K Satya Lakshmi, Director of NIN, said, "This will be the first hospital in Pune with facilities such as a medi-gym and yoga, along with hydrotherapy and massage units and a herbal garden. The hospital will cater to all manner of patients, so that people may avail the advantage of the benefits of nature. The institute will also have specialised teaching staff and several outreach programmes."

"The medical college will have graduate, upper graduate, postgraduate and even Ph D courses in naturopathy and yoga. There will be also a research unit for the students to further explore the field," she added.

"There will be a Gandhi Memorial Intervention study centre in the college. Currently, people from countries like Japan, USA, Norway, Finland etc., visit the institute regularly to learn both about nature science and Gandhi, so this intervention centre will meet their needs," said K Subhash, Administration Officer, NIN.

Mahatma Gandhi was the founder and chairman of the Nature Cure Trust, as NIN, was earlier known, reports Pune Mirror.
