Karnataka: Sridevi Institute Students to be placed in other colleges

In the face of Shridevi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Hospital (SIMSRH), Tumakuru not getting recognition from the Medical Council of India (MCI), the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) will conduct offline counselling for its 100 students for admissions elsewhere.


On the basis of a Karnataka High Court directive, 100 students of SIMSRH who were admitted to the college through Common Entrance Test (CET) and the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) are to be placed suitably.


According to KEA Administrative Officer S.N. Gangadharaiah 120 students had been allotted seats in the college. “Sixty were allotted seats through the CET and the rest via COMEDK. The government has agreed to follow the directions of the High Court and the students will be allotted seats in other colleges this year,” he said.


Students who were admitted through CET are to be admitted to the four government colleges of the state in groups of 15. The rest are to be given admission in the 10 COMEDK colleges in batches of six, said Gangadharaiah


The date of offline counseling has been announced as September 7. The CET students will be called in for the first session from 10 am to 12 noon and the second session would be hosted from 12 noon to 2 pm
