Karnataka:Government Dental College and Research Institute, Ballari, has been given permission to admit 50 students for their first academic year 2016-17. The college had been denied admission to 50 students last year on the basis of inadequate infrastructure facilities, including teaching staff and equipment. The denial was based on a report of a team from DCI.

The Dental College complied to all the drawbacks mentioned by the DCI team in 2015.It also sent a report mentioning the same to them along with a request for renewal of permission for admission of students.

The DCI in response to the report sent, visited the college to inspect in April and May and finally recommended the renewal of permission, according to sources. Pradip Kumar Pal, Under Secretary to the Union government also sent a similar communication to this effect. His communication made clear that the intake of 50 students for 2016 to follow a recognition from the Dental Council of India.

The state government run college has been taking in 50 admissions since 2008. Recognition from the DCI is still to come. The college has been running on the basis of a union Government consent uptil now.
