Karnataka: 7 Govt medical Colleges granted 50 additional seats each

Bengaluru: Medical Education Minister, Sharanprakash R. Patil's, announcement on Wednesday about the Medical Council of India(MCI), giving a nod to 350 additional medical seats in seven government colleges of the state, has sent ripples of joy down aspirant spines. Each of the seven has been granted 50 extra seats for the current academic year.

The colleges entitled to this seat increase include: Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences, Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences, Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences, Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences, Shivamogga Institute of Medical Sciences, Belgaum Institute of Medical Sciences, and Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences, Hubballi.


Deemed Universities:


With counselling to begin in deemed universities by the DMER soon the chances of 25% government quota seats being allotted by the deemed have dimmed.


Besides this, several deemed universities will also part with 25% of the seats that are enhanced, with the permission of the State government. Medical Education Minister, Sharanprakash R. Patil, however, added that department officials would clarify with the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on the issue of transfer, reports Hindu.
