Kalpana Chawla Medical college to start DNB courses in three subjects
Karnal: The Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital (KCGMCH) has been given the approval to start postgraduate courses of Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in surgery, orthopaedics and anaesthesiology.
Candidates who complete their PG under the National Board of Examinations (NBE), an autonomous academic body, under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare are accorded a DNB degree.
This comes as a big leap for Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital, which is a relatively new institution in the state, having commenced session last year with a batch of 100 students.
"We have received a letter from the state government to run PG courses in three subjects. It will help in increasing the number of specialist doctors," said Director, Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College , Dr Surinder Kashyap.
Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College , a new institution had not been given permission by the Medical Council till now to run PG courses in clinical subjects. It is only recently that the college approached the state for starting these courses, revealed the college director
"Our main aim is to provide better health services to people of Haryana and adjoining states. These courses will help in providing specialized healthcare to patients," he said.
"We have started the process of registration of these courses with NBE. Soon, inspection of the departments will be carried out by a team of the NBE," he informed.
"We have all facilities and the infrastructure to run these courses," he declared to the Tribune.
