Bokaro: Two, 25 acre plots have been offered by the Bokaro Steel plant authorities for the setting up of a medical college in the state. One of the two sites offered has to be chosen for the project. A team of administrative and BSL officials led by General Manager, Town and Services, Rajbir Singh and DRDA,Director, Sundeep Kumar have inspected the two sites, located near NH-23 (Ranchi-Bokaro-Dhanbad route).

The idea to establish a medical college in Bokharo was initiated in February, during a budget session, where former Union Steel Minister, Narender Singh Tomar, promised to provide the state government premises to start a medical college. The promise was made at Chief Minister Raghubar Das' s request. However, Mr. Tomar consented to provide land for the college, if the state agreed to bear the infrastructural and operative costs of the institution.

When fund allocation was granted, the state government asked DC, Rai Mahimpat Ray, to identify a piece of land where the project could begin.

Giving the exact location of the plots Sundeep Kumar, OSD told the DC,“One plot is located near RVS College at sector XII and another chunk is proximate to Holy Cross School in Balidih. We have to select one plot for the proposed project. Though we are currently studying the feasibility of both plots, we are keen on the one near sector XII."

According to the MCI guideline , a 25 acre allocation was required to initiate a medical facility, within a 5 km radius of Sadar Hospital. MLA, Biranchi Narayan informed stating,"The sector XII plot is located within five-kilometre radius of the Sadar Hospital near camp II."
