Rajasthan: In an apparent move to accommodate more patient at its premise, the SMS medical college has sought special permission to construct an 10-storey building.

However, at the moment, the institute’s plans seem to have run into a administration truouble. The area allotted for the additional space is Bunglow 9 and 10, which, as reported by TOI, have been earlier allotted to MLAs on Vivekanad Marg near SMS Hospital. A per the rules of the Jaipur Developmet Authority, SMS cannot construct a high rise building on a 40-feet wide road.

As a result of which, the college administration is seeking special permission from JDA, and has also asked for a government intervention to resolve the matter at hand.

In addition, there is a demand for more space-by allotting more MLA Bunglows to the hospital, so that the big project can take a grounded shape.

As quoted by TOI, the SMS Medical College is planning the development of the hospital keeping in mind the need for coming 50 years. "On the 10-storey building, we will be able to accommodate our specialities departments like neurosurgery, orthopaedics, nephrology along with trauma cases," SMS Hospital principal and controller Dr U S Agarwal said.

Over the past five years, the SMS Hospital has witnessed increasing number of patients coming to the hospital for treatment. The implementation of free medicine and free diagnostic schemes is one of the reasons for increasing number of patients in the hospital. The decongestion of the hospital is one of the priorities of the hospital administration by creating more space for the patients.
