Imphal: Recognition recommended for RIMS by DCI

Imphal: The Dental Council of India has recommended to the Government of India to grant recognition to RIMS Dental College. This decision was taken by the body at its 136th general body meeting held on September 30 and October 1.


A two day inspection has been conducted at RIMS in order to see whether the university has maintained the standards in conducting the first final examination.The inspection was conducted by DCI Inspector Dr Pankaj Madhukar and Dr A Lavany on July 22 and July 23 this year.The outcome of the inspection was submitted to the DCI in the form of a report. The report was studied at the general body meet and the decision to grant recognition was then taken. Admissions to RIMS will no longer be a problem for aspiring students.


With a total strength of 50 seats , all north eastern states and others from all parts of the country would have access to a certain no of seats in RIMS.


Due to certain deficiencies, RIMS was not allowed to take any admissions last year. which resulted in the Director, Medical Superintendent, Deputy Director and other top ranking officials having a tough time with dental authorities. Nevertheless the College made all out efforts to overcome infra structural pitfalls, manpower shortage. On overcoming the deficient, the RIMS authorities have worked hard to get a recognition from the DCI. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare have also put in a favourable word with the DCI for RIMS recognition. The Ministry, Deputy Secretary, Badyo Padhyay and Dental Education Section Officer, N Kumar, are the two officials who have finally finally helped in making way for the college to be granted its recognition.
