Haryana:HC directs state govt to adjust Goldfield MBBS students in govt colleges
Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday directed the Haryana Government to shift all students of the shut Gold Field Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (GFIMSR), Faridabad, in state run medical colleges.
The court’s decision came in the wake of the students having challenged the state government’s directive stating that some were to be shifted into private colleges. There contention being that they would have to pay twenty times the fee of a government college.
Accepting their plea, the court directed the state to admit all into state run institutions on the basis of merit. The entire process is to be completed in a period of 10 days.

The court also issued instructions that the students were to be allowed to sit for all classes attended earlier, in the joining colleges, as well. This came in view of the fee deposited and classes attended in the earlier colleges.It was to be done so that they did not face any problems regarding fee & shortage of lectures.
Making a specific note regarding women students, the court clearly stated that they were to be adjusted in Bhagat Phool Singh Government College for Women, Khanpur Kalan in Sonipat district.
The Union government had on March 25, 2016, decided that the batches of such students would be divided among four government colleges at PGIMS, Rohtak; Maharaja Agrasen Medical College, Agroha; Bhagat Phool Singh Government College for Women, Khanpur Kalan; and Shaheed Hasan Khan Mewati Government Medical College, Nalhar.
The court also held that infrastructure in the said medical colleges, on account of additional admissions was to be increased accordingly. The amount on the expenses incurred was to be received from ‘the bank guarantee of the GFIMSR as per the guidelines of the Medical Council of India (MCI), in view of the fact that the same stood encashed.’
