Haryana announces to set up medical college in every district
Chandigarh: Keen on producing 2,000 doctors every year to meet the shortage, the Haryana Government has decided to set up a medical college in every district of the state.
This was stated by the Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, while speaking at the 'Double Helical State Health Award 2017' presentation ceremony organized here.
He honoured about 50 prominent doctors, health experts and medical specialists for their outstanding contribution in the field of healthcare.
Describing doctors' profession as stressful, the Chief Minister said a medical officer performed his duty round-the-clock. It is commendable. The state government is continuously working to meet the requirement of doctors and it could only be achieved by setting up new medical colleges.
Mr Khattar said a medical health insurance scheme was also being finalized to ensure that poor people did not face any difficulty in getting treatment in hospitals.
