Hamirpur medical college to start academic session in 2018-19

Shimla: Health Minister, Vipin Singh Parmar in the government’s effort to strengthen the health infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh stated a Medical College Hamirpur was to be equipped with required staff including faculty and junior residents as per the Medical Council of India (MCI) directives. 53 appointments have been consented to by the department to facilitate commencement of the academic session at the college in 2018.


He said that 179 appointments of new medical officers had been approved recently to improve Medicare and assist people of the state. Around 60 of these appointed Medical Officers will be transferred to health facilities in remote areas where no doctors were available. It was the first time that the state government had approved of so many new appointments numbering at a 179 in such a short duration of time.


Meanwhile taking cognizance of the erring drug manufacturers, the minister said stern action would be taken against the errant individuals in this case. He said that no one would be allowed to go against the established drug rules, which acted as hazards against public health.
