Gujarat: Vadnagar Medical College gets MCI nod for 150 MBBS seats

Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s hometown in Mehsana district has joined the country’s medical map with Vadnagar Medical College, the 3rd sanctioned college of North Gujarat getting the Medical Council of India’s nod to grant admissions on 150 seats. A Central Government’s permission letter to the Secretary, Medical Education states that a letter of permission has been issued to the college by the centre.


The Principal Health Secretary, Pankaj Kumar further confirmed that the state had got permission to admit students on 150 seats in Vadnagar Medical College from the current 2017-18 academic year. "Vadnagar Medical College has got permission to admit first-year MBBS students for the academic year 2017-18. The college is attached to a 300-bed specialty hospital with an ICU and key specialty branches," Kumar told TOI.


The state presently has 22 medical colleges with 3,530 seats. With Vadnagar being added to this list the seats have increased to3,680


The other medical colleges in the state include those at Himmat nagar and Patan. Vadnagar Medical College is a self-financed medical college. The MCI's approval nod has given joy to both aspirants and parents alike.
