Gujarat: Post-graduate medical aspirants to have a common form

Ahmedabad: Officials of the Committee, headed by Commissioner of Health, Gujarat have announced that the centralized post-graduate (PG) medical admission form will cost Rs 2,000 and will be uniformly applicable for all category seats from this year


The decision of a common form being introduced was taken after common counselling for candidates was announced. Admissions to 1,687 postgraduate medical seats in the state will be centralized and based on marks scored by candidates in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET)- for Postgraduates-2017.


Students are required to fill only one form costing Rs 2,000, stated Health Commissioner, J P Gupta. This form will be valid for 25% management quota seats, and 75% general seats .


The Admission Committee, headed by the Health Commissioner- Admissions, will also be conducting admissions to the general quota seats. The Students will not be required to fill separate forms, for management quota, either.


Officials revealed that earlier, students had to go to various colleges to fill up separate forms for management quota;and they were required to pay a separate form fee ranging between Rs 8,000 to Rs 15,000.


The new rules, make common counselling mandatory for PG courses.The Postgraduate Medical Education (Amendment) Regulation-2016, states: Admissions to all postgraduate courses in all medical institutes, will be conducted through common counselling. Till now, deemed universities, private colleges and even universities were conducting their own admissions for PG medical courses, informed sources, reports TOI.
