Gujarat: A move by the staff-involving doctors and nurses at the Shree Krishna Medical College in Karamsad turned out to be very embarrassing for the institute during an MCI inspection.

It was revealed employees at the college were posing as patients to show a high footfall at the institute during an MCI inspection visit. This was done with a motive to seek an MCI approval for the college to increase its intake of under graduate seats for the coming academic session, from the current 100 to 150.

However, the college authorities are now in a complete denial of the allegations imposed on them.

The MCI inspection team on the other hand holds a documented video, which puts the college in a spot alleging that employee's including nurses, sweepers and ward boys were forced to pose as patients by the hospital authorities. In addition, even the private doctors were made to pose as teachers to show a high number of faculty number at the institute.

Only after an interaction with the visitors at the hospital did the incident emerged on the surface, when some of the employees hinted that they were asked to be a part of the act. It has not been confirmed if they have been paid extra for their participation in the alleged act of posing as patients.

As reported by a local daily, meanwhile, college dean Utpala Kharod stated that the allegations were baseless. "I do not wish to comment about the talk of employees posing as patients," she stated. She added that the college has teachers in adequate number. "Everything in our college is as per the MCI requirement. We have more than the required number of teachers in our college. We might have less senior residents," she said, adding that Tuesday's inspection went off smoothly.
