Ahmedabad: The October 7 High Court Directive related to the opening of a new Self Financed College of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy besides adding 550 seats to the already existing 4,895 has brought to halt the ongoing admission process to the existing colleges. Incidentally, the students are already over with their choice filling round which is the last round and are supposed to have been allotted colleges by October 7.

The allotment process was halted on Saturday after the medical and paramedical admissions reached their last leg.

According to sources from the admission committee, “The four colleges were quite old and there was a delay in approval of seats from the medical council; while other two are new colleges. Thus after the HC’s approval over 550 seats have been added. As per the directive of HC, with the increase in the number of seats, choice filling round will have to be conducted again. Thus it is likely that the deadline for choice filling will be extended and will also delay the start of the new academic year. It is already Diwali and the academic year has not yet started,” reports Ahmedabad Mirror
