Govt Unani college to be set in Mewat dist: AYUSH Minister

Chandigarh: Haryana AYUSH Minister Anil Vij on Friday said that Government Unani Medical College and Hospital would be set up at Akera village in Mewat district.


Mr Vij said that this would be the first Unani college in Mewat area. The college would be established over six acres which would be made available by the Akera village panchayat. A sum of about Rs 10.50 crore would be spent on it, he added.


He said that the college would have seats of Bachelor in Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) doctors. He said that the state government intends to establish AYUSH wing in each district of the state. At present, ten Unani doctors are rendering their services in different health centres of the state.


The Minister said that the decision has been taken for equitable development of all branches of AYUSH. All facilities such as OPD, IPD, academic department, laboratory, library and hostel would be made available in the college. Presently, eight Ayurvedic and one homoeopathic college are functioning in the state, he added.
