Goa Medical College to hire more consultants
Goa Medical College is likely to be equipped with more machines and also, more manpower consultants for its super-specialty cardiology and cardiothoracic unit. This has been recently announced by the Deputy chief minister and health minister Francis D'Souza.
The initiative comes in order to make the unit more effective, as further implied by the health minister. It will only add to better servicing of cardiac patients at GMC by having more doctors per each patient.
The health minister has also implied that there will be an additional recruitment for more doctors also at the department.
As reported by TOI, D'Souza said that there will always be a wait list at GMC and that, that cannot be changed but that doctors, after checking the patients, decide how long that person can wait. "As per my knowledge, emergency patients have never been sent back," he said.
In another report, a hospital attached to the Goa Medical College (GMC) and Hospital, Bambolim, as a rural medical centre is expected to be inaugurated soon.The sub-district hospital in Tuem here is expected to be inaugurated by March 2017. The construction work on the site is currently in full swing, with 25% of the hospital project reported to be complete now. This 25% consists of a ground-plus-one structure with 70-bed capacity and basement parking facility, which is ready.
This hospital project is likely to cost Rs 50 crore and is funded by the Goa state infrastructure development corporation (GSIDC).
