Goa Medical College to be hub of ICMR Diabetes study

Panaji: Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in association with the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF), Chennai, is conducting a multi-centric study to find the exact prevalence of Diabetes in the country and its associated risk factors.


The India-Diabetes (INDIAB) study for the state of Goa will be conducted by Goa Medical College under the leadership of Dr Ankush Desai, Consultant Endocrinologist (Principal Investigator) and Dr Amit Dias, Department of Preventive and Social Medicine (Co-Investigator) with the approval of Government of Goa.


The study has been approved by the Institutional Review Board, GMC, and is conducted in association with the Directorate with the Directorate of Health Services, Government of Goa. All the team members visiting the homes of the selected participants will have an official ID card, a statement said here on Monday.
